Pilot whales making like dolphins came frolicking up to the yacht to check us out. We’ve often seen them in the straits. These 6-7 meter long animals are a charcoal grey colour with a lighter underside. They mostly live in pods of 5 - 20 animals but we have seen as many as 300 at a time, these large groups have been spotted at different times throught the year. They feed on fish expecially cuttlefish. Unfortunately its hard to do justice to these sightings with a photograph. The skipper, Ginge took this one, of a small pod in the Atlantic.
